Mission Statement



To protect the lives and property of the citizens of the Village of Tarrytown, the Tarrytown Fire Protection Districts, the Town of Greenburgh, and our mutual aid response areas with the highest quality and consistently professional fire protection, rescue services, emergency management, and other public safety programs.


Message from Chief Patrick Derivan

I would like to thank all those involved for making this years Tarrytown Fire Department Annual Parade a success. The residents of Tarrytown, and Volunteer Firefighters families, friends and visitors that lined the parade route and provided applause and cheers, the Parade Committee Co Chairs James Brown and Joe McCarthy, the Parade Committee, the Tarrytown Fire Department Ex Chiefs Association for acting as Parade Marshals, the Tarrytown Police Department, the Village Officials, Mayor Drew Fixell, Trustees Bobby Hoyt, Thomas Basher, Thomas Butler and Doug Zollo, on the review stand, Jim Kovacs for his announcements from the review stand, the Assistant Chiefs, Officers and Members of the Tarrytown Fire Department, and the Chiefs, Officers and Members of all the guest Fire Departments that attended, and all the bands that played. 

I would also like to thank the kind donors of the 28 Trophies and Westchester County Parade Judges Association for their meticulous calculations ensuring the trophies were presented fairly. The results are also available on the Westchester County Parade Judges Association web site www.wcpja.com

Unfortunately the weather broke during the award ceremony. Respect to Montrose FD who stood their ground in full uniform during the down pour.

Congratulations to Elmsford Fire Department for once again hosting a fantastic Lt. Andy Fredericks Memorial Seminar.  Battalion Chief Jerry Tracy, FDNY, presented this year’s topic "Private Dwelling Fires" to more than three hundred and fifty firefighters from across the Lower Hudson Valley and other States.

Department Training Update

Congratulations to the following members who have recently completed training courses.

Firefighter 1
Ryan Nyarady, Alicia Goldstein, David Goldstein, Bill Maher, Shaun ‘Tex’ Holmes,  Frank Giampiccolo Jr., Rensilin Pathrose, Andy Hofgartner, Tommy Keane, Dave Cappello, Kevin Grubbs, Bryan Duggan, Brandon Dugan, Joe Erstling, Dmitri Dunlov, Greg Egan, Manny Busto, Jose Sampaio and Andrew Wilgermein for passing Firefighter I. 

The 84 hour course introduces firefighting concepts, practices and techniques necessary for success within the fire service. Based on the Firefighter Level I objectives from FPA Standards 1001, this course develops knowledge, skills and abilities based on performance criteria for the following topics: Fire department organization, firefighter safety, fire behavior, personal protective equipment, self contained breathing apparatus, fire extinguishers, building searches, forcible entry, ground ladders, ventilation, hose practices fire streams, and loss control. The course consists of performance criteria in incident command, building construction, ropes/knots, rescue procedures, forcible entry applications, ventilation practices, fire extinguisher applications, suppression of structural fire, tactics, vehicle suppression, water supply, loss control, fire cause determination, fire department communications, fire suppression systems, hazardous materials, weapons of mass destruction, confined space safety and fire prevention practices.
